Your first 60 days in a new home: a safety checklist
Useful whether or not you ever call us.
- Change the locks or re-key them. And reset garage door and keypad codes.
- Test every smoke and CO detector. Replace any that are past their date.
- Find the alarm panel. Ask the previous owner or company whether service can transfer, or needs to be cancelled.
- Check which alarm sensors are wired. Wired sensors can often be reused with a new panel.
- Rename your Wi-Fi and change the password. Then update cameras and smart devices.
- Register your alarm with the town if required. See our registration guide.
- Ask your insurer whether a monitored alarm lowers your premium, and what certificate they need.
