Local protection

Your neighbors in Apex

Secur-Tek has called Apex home since 1990, and our office on 809B Center Street sits minutes from nearly every neighborhood we protect. From the historic downtown district to the newer rooftops out toward Olive Chapel and Friendship, we've watched Apex grow into one of the fastest-growing towns in America, and we've grown right alongside it. When you call us, you reach a local team that knows these streets, not a national call center three states away.

With Apex consistently ranked among the fastest-growing towns in the country, new subdivisions and the planned development near the Apex Wake Tech campus are reshaping the west side, and every one of those homes needs to be protected from day one.

In 2025 the Apex Police Department reported 632 property offenses to the FBI, or 8.0 per 1,000 residents. The FBI Crime Data Explorer shows 18.1 per 1,000 for North Carolina and 15.5 per 1,000 nationally for 2025, so Apex's property crime rate was less than half the state rate.1

FBI-reported property offenses in Apex went from 764 in 2022 (11.6 per 1,000) to 678 in 2023 (9.1) and 632 in 2025 (8.0). The 2024 total (420) is not comparable because Apex's monthly FBI reports for June to December 2024 were far below the department's normal levels.1

What the numbers mean

A security plan built for Apex

Larceny and theft make up most reported property crime in Apex, so the plan starts with the easy targets: cars, porches and garages.

Doors, windows and the garage

Apex Police Department recorded 43 burglaries in 2025. Sensors on every exterior door, the garage door and ground-floor windows, plus glass-break detectors, sound the alarm before anyone gets far.

Driveway, porch and cars

Larceny and theft made up 87% of reported property crime in Apex in 2025. 41 vehicle thefts were reported in 2025. A video doorbell and a driveway camera show who walks up, send an alert to your phone, and keep the recording.

A response that counts

Monitored alarms reach a UL-listed central station 24/7, and verified alarms get the right response. We handle local alarm registration when it applies.

Building or renovating

Wire it before the walls close

Building or buying new in Apex? We pre-wire homes during construction so security, cameras, smart-home and networking are baked in behind the walls instead of bolted on later. It's cleaner, it's hidden, and it saves you money versus retrofitting later.

Good to know

Alarm rules and tips for Apex

Local alarm rules. The Apex Police Department does not require home or business alarm registration, according to its FAQ. The Town Code's false-alarm article covers fire alarm systems in buildings other than one- and two-family homes: after three false fire alarms in a calendar year, the civil penalty is $150 for the fourth, $200 for the fifth and $250 for each one after that (Sec. 9-33). Source.

Registration. Many Triangle towns ask monitored alarm systems to be registered and charge for repeat false alarms. Our alarm registration guide has the current rules and links, and we help you register when we install.

Switching companies. Already have a system? Wired sensors can often be reused with a new panel. Some panels are locked by the old dealer; we check on the visit and tell you plainly. How switching works.

"There are lots of security companies out there and we're glad we chose Secur-Tek. We like the fact that they're a local business and when you call them you're talking to someone in the neighborhood."

Apex security FAQ

Is Apex a safe place to live?
By FBI figures, Apex's crime rates are well below state and national levels. In 2025 the Apex Police Department reported 8.0 property offenses and 0.5 violent offenses per 1,000 residents, compared with North Carolina rates of 18.1 and 3.3 per 1,000 (FBI Crime Data Explorer, 2025). The realistic risks are theft-type crimes, mainly shoplifting at stores and thefts from vehicles.
What are the most common property crimes in Apex?
Larceny. In 2025, 547 of Apex's 632 FBI-reported property offenses were larcenies. FBI NIBRS data list 276 shoplifting offenses and 140 thefts from motor vehicles, compared with 43 burglaries and 41 vehicle thefts.
Why does this page use 2025 figures for Apex instead of 2024?
Apex's 2024 data in the FBI Crime Data Explorer is incomplete. From June to December 2024 the department's monthly reports were far below its usual levels, so the 2024 annual total understates crime. The 2025 data covers all 12 months at normal levels.
Does Apex require an alarm permit?
No. The Apex Police Department's FAQ says it does not require home or business alarm registration. A separate Town Code section sets civil penalties for repeated false fire alarms in buildings other than one- and two-family homes.
Does Secur-Tek install security systems in Apex, NC?
Yes. Secur-Tek has installed and serviced home and business security throughout Apex for years, with a local team based in nearby Apex. We cover neighborhoods including Downtown Apex, Bella Casa, Haddon Hall, Scotts Mill and the surrounding Wake County area, offering professionally monitored alarms, cameras, smart-home automation and more.
How quickly can a technician reach my Apex home or business?
Our office is right here in Apex, so we're never far away. Call us and we'll schedule a free, no-pressure consultation at a time that works for you.
Do you offer security for new-construction homes in Apex?
Absolutely. Apex has a lot of new construction, and the best time to add security is during the build. We pre-wire homes for alarm sensors, cameras, networking and smart-home gear before the drywall goes up, so everything is clean, hidden and ready the day you move in.
Does Secur-Tek watch the video from my cameras?
No, and this is a common misunderstanding. Our professional monitoring center watches for alarm signals (like a tripped door or smoke sensor) so help can be dispatched 24/7. Your camera footage is private and viewable by you in your own app; we don't sit and watch your cameras. You stay in control of your video.
How much does a security system cost in Apex?
Starter packages start at $799 installed, wireless packages at $1,799 and wired packages at $3,495, plus $32.95 a month for monitoring, or $48.95 with cameras. Your exact price comes after a free visit. Get a range in 2 minutes.
